Who we are

Girl2Girl (G2G) Empowerment Movement is a Sierra Leonean based young-women’s organization that seeks to equip girls with leadership skills to become advocates and change makers in their communities.G2G works with vulnerable girls and young women in slum areas in Freetown.G2G emerged from a participatory study led by girls affected by teenage pregnancy in Freetown. This empowering process resulted in the girls requesting support from a UK based organization, Foundation for Women’s Health Research and Development (FORWARD) to roll out a programme to reach other girls at risk in their communities. G2G was registered as a non-governmental organization in 2013 with the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs in Sierra Leone.
The aim of G2G is to improve the sexual reproductive health and rights of girls and young women and safeguard them from early pregnancy and gender based violence including sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage..

Vision

Girls and young women in Sierra Leone are empowered, free from gender based violence and able to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and life choices.

Mission

To provide a safe space for girls and young women living in slum areas to develop leadership and life skills and access information and support to become agents of change. We will help amplify girls’ voices in policy spaces and undertake local level actions to shape a safe and enabling environment for all girls to thrive. We will target girls and young women affected by and at risk of FGM, child motherhood, teenage pregnancy, and sexual abuse.
